Jack Encarnacao grew up outside of Boston and is based there today. He is a 2005 graduate of Emerson College, where he earned a degree in print and multimedia journalism and was his class valedictorian. He worked for two years in The Boston Globe newsroom, where he wrote feature stories in the first months of the UFC boom, and chronicled Massachusetts fighter Kenny Florian's odyssey to Las Vegas to compete in the first "The Ultimate Fighter" finale.
He is currently a reporter at The Patriot Ledger, a respected, 170-year-old daily covering the South Shore region of Massachusetts. He covers a wide range topics, including government, crime, lifestyle, and politics, and was in 2007 named "Rookie of the Year" by the New England Press Associaton. He spends too much of his time pitching stories and multimedia projects about mixed martial arts and professional wrestling. He joined The Fight Network MMA team in January 2007.
