CATEGORIES: Wrestling, Misc.

Q: What has 24 arms, 24 legs and 6 teeth?
A: The front row of any wrestling crowd.

The above joke is one of the oldest when it comes to pro wrestling fans. When I became a fan in the early '70s, and the Bearman Dave McKigney would bring his show to my hometown, that joke had some truth to it. It always surprised me, even at 8 years old, that all the scummiest people in town would be at the arena for the show. The town drunks, the bullies from the school yard and the creepy guy that took your ticket at the movie theatre were all there. I was always perplexed by the fact that I seemed to enjoy something that brought out the dregs of society.

Then, in the '90s. things began to change a bit with the advent of the internet.
Now, all of a sudden, there seemed to be a lot of really intelligent, clever people discussing and debating the good, bad and ugly aspects of pro wrestling. For the first time ever, questions that had plagued my brain since childhood could now be easily answered. I found that whole period fascinating. Cool people liked wrestling too!

Now, unfortunately, with the recent addition of the comment board on the LAW website, I have to wonder if things are beginning to digress. It seems that there are a lot of people out there that just like to post and insult everybody associated with the LAW as well as each other.

Now, I'm all for freedom of speech. Everyone should have their chance to have their say. This isn't aimed at the people that want to have me thrown off the LAW or who don't like me as a host. You are allowed to have your opinion. This also isn't aimed at those who do provide insightful and intelligent commentary. You guys are always welcome.

What ultimately bothers me is the way people so quickly resort to insults and threats to try and get their points across. People, if you take one thing away from this article, it should be this: No one listens to someone who is insulting them. If you can create an argument and justify your thoughts rationally, then fine, people will listen. However, if you resort to calling people assholes, drunks, crackheads or whatever other petty things you can come up with, you won't get anywhere.

The best recent examples are posters who have been commenting about how bad my interview a few weeks ago with Austin Aries was. I agree, actually. I thought it was terrible, but not because of anything I did. Yes, he was on the show to promote the ROH show in Markham (where he had a great chain match with Jimmy Jacobs), but that does not mean I can't ask about other parts of his career.

He was in TNA, and it's fair game to ask about that. He is a public figure, and he hadn't been on the show since the break with TNA, and there were parts of that story that I felt needed clarification. I gave Aries the chance to air his views on it, but he refused. That's fine. But when he went into kayfabe mode because he didn't like the line of questioning, that seemed unfair to me, so I ended the interview.

But instead of people offering up some positive criticism, many just continue to wail on, calling us assholes and such. You're never going to get taken seriously when you finish your points with "you goddamn imbecile."

But even more scary than that was the posts that turned up when we announced that we were moving our Monday night parties to another O' Grady's in Toronto, one located in the Gay Village. I could not believe the comments that appeared bashing homosexuals and us for having the parties there. John Pollock had to remove many of the comments because they were so offensive.

It is people like this that cause wrestling to never rise above the dregs. Thanks to comments from vindictive and immature fans, it just reinforces the stereotype that you're all nothing but a bunch of idiots, who, I might add, don't even have the guts to use your real names when you spew your hatred.

Think about this for a second. If there are any of you out there that hope that maybe one day the wrestlers will get what they deserve like health care and proper time off, or even just respect for what they do, well, you're working against that with your thoughtless comments.

Why do you think the government in the USA didn't do anything after the Chris Benoit tragedy and investigate the problems in pro wrestling? One of the reasons is that wrestling is still considered the domain of trailer park trash, rednecks and other casualties of society. They won't take it seriously because they think all the fans are just dummies and don't care anyway. Let the wrestlers kill themselves, the fans don't care.

Please, when you think about making comments, try to do it in a civilized and respectful way. It's all right to be critical, but that's not just saying, "Hey, you guys on the LAW are nothing but a bunch dumb homeless assholes who are smoking crack."

Thank you.

I am continuously amazed and disgusted at how many people feel that it's ok to insult and degrade crack smokers. You do an admirable job on the LAW, Lovranski, so don't take these criticisms too seriously. If you want more control over the blogs, why not require a signup or members only blog? If there is a simple and clear solution, it only stands to reason that you use it. If you continue to have an open comment board, there is not much you can do about anonymous fools posting mindless chatter. Unfortunately, although you have a right to complain about the posts, it is unlikely that any thoughtful argument on your part will bring about change.

Dan. I have to say that I'm a fan of you and the show. I agree with the article for the most part, however the LAW has to take some responsibility for this. The type of open forum that you have needs to be moderated. You guys have basically let one or two bad apples spoil the whole bunch. There are intelligent people here, but when you do nothing to stop one or two idiots from ruining the whole board, how do you expect intelligent conversation to occur. More so, addressing these issues and not doing a thing about it makes you almost as bad as those who post nonsense here everyday. Your not the first person on this board or website to point out this problem, or what it says about wrestling fans, however you are the first person to comment about it and actually have the ability to do something about it....Your inaction makes this post almost as pointless and space wasting as those of the idiots on this site. Do something about this....

Great article Dan!

I’ve never been one to insult & bash people on the internet. When I post my comments, I take into account what I write as if I’m talking to the person face to face. If I have any complaints, I’ve always offered constructive criticism.

The majority of people who post here (from what I’ve seen) are good kind hearted people. What’s sad is that it’s those 5-10 people who post insults and the like, that are going to ruin it for the rest of us. They post insults so they can get a reaction out of us; It’s not worth getting upset about.

I’ve been a fan of pro wrestling for 23 years (my entire life), & I think you, John, Jay & Wai do an absolutely fantastic job each & every week on the LAW! Keep up the great work guys, take care!

Geez, man. Just turn off the comments. I stopped reading the Law for a while, because they were out of control.

Anyway, thanks very much, keep fighting the good fight.

thank you for writing this article and i agree with 100% of what you said, at times reading the boards makes me think of how pathetic some fans can be and how embarrassing it is to be a wrestling fan because of people who just don't get it. Wake up and stop embarrassing decent fans, you don't hear football fans or hockey fans ripping into their respective sports the way wrestling "fans" rip into every aspect of the business. Because of you fans i'm handing in my wrestling fan card, its to embarrassing to be associated with pathetic losers.

You are completely right. Nearly all comments on this site are just pointless criticism. LAW, TFN, whoever - someone needs to moderate these boards for intelligent fans to discuss news and events. Gotthorm is just one example of annoying posters and spammers that are ruining the site!

Dan, I see your point but no matter what happens on message boards, the wwe anyway, will still bring in the societal refuse. Thats why I stick with ROH and other indie shows that provide some intelligent and more passionate fans. Ones that aren't there to get Hasselhoff drunk, call an usher at the ACC an F'ing Asshole, get kicked out and have the gall to ask the usher why. Ones that arent there to get Lohan'd then try to fight the dad with kids behind him when asked nicely to sit down. Ones that aren't there to get Keifer Sutherland mashed in Buffalo and yell at a wrestler "I wish you were dead like Owen" Ive seen all of the above and there is NO getting rid of it. So yeah for now, moderate your boards and get user ids.

Honestly Dan I agree with you but the open forum must be stopped. Look at the bright side, people who actually wish to engage in an intelligent conversation will have no problem signing up. Every time that I have tried to post something normal it would turn into a bunch of clowns trying to talk shit. I NEVER argue over the internet which is why I would rather just close the window then type away like a "badass."

Anyways Dan my only problem with you this year has been you constantly saying that JBL is going back to commentary after the next match. I think were stuck seeing him a singles wrestler for the next little while. Even though he is best suited for a speaking role, I guess they need a semi main event guy for their ppvs.

Nice try Dan, but people will still be people and ignore your speech on civility. Don't fall prey to the misconception of the rasslin' fan as being boorish and primal. I too have always been a fan of wrestling since the mid 70's, when wrestling roadshows use to show up once a year in a small northern Ontario town I use to grow up in. I thought it was better than the annual community fair that always took place in the summer. My point is not all wrestling fans are lowest of the low. And you can't generalize all fans as such. It's unfair and I take offense on your point. We all have careers and families now. we have matured and we are beyond lectures at this point in our lives. Don't let the actions of the few idiots control the blog. And finally, you can't assume the U.S. government isn't launching an investigation into problems of pro wrestling. It takes time to build any type of case and you need prima facia evidence to make a charge stick. Whose to say the U.S. Congress or the U.S. Attorney General hasn't closed any formal or informal investigation on Pro Wrestling. If Benoit didn't commit suicide, the whole wrestling industry and Benoit would be put on trial. Once a Benoit trial has ended, I bet you the U.S. Congress would have gone after the wrestling industry and Vince McMahon. The previous opportunities ie.the Benoit tragedy and death of Owen Hart , to bring in a legislative power to curb the way wrestling conducts it's business may have passed, but God forbid I hope I am wrong on this notion, but there could be another tragedy to put Congress into action. BEHAVE YOURSELF KIDS, OR DAN WILL TAKE YOUR TOYS AWAY FROM YOU, YOU NAUGHTY SCAMPS

You will always get ridiculous comments because as long as there is no registration, there is no accountability. That is one of the worst things about the internet. Some people just like to be jerks and stir up things. They don't mind causing trouble and hurting whomever they can as long as they can get away scot free. In fact, some people relish the opportunity to cause as much damage as they can.

19. Kmusky
November 29, 2008 - 3:04 am

Keep it in mind, Aries wrestles for ROH, so he's probably used to being an internet darling. When Dan didn't fawn all over him and give him the softballs that he wanted, he started to pout and took his ball home. No great loss. It wouldn't be the first time a wrestler with a huge, overblown ego ego has been on the show.

20. Larry from Oakville
November 29, 2008 - 3:07 am

Again, Dan doesn't take down the posts because they consistently prove that people are listening to the show and giving hits to the site every time they complain about. It doesn't take a genius to see that guys like bird, gotthorm and the rest listen every week. He has even been quoted by them with the time index provided for when he said this or that. They even look up the transcripts of his interviews, which proves to the decision makers at TFN that people are hanging on his every word waiting to see what he will say next.

People are not turned off by the product. In the world of business, numbers are all that matter. These people don't realize that with every commentary they make on the show, his job is secured more and more.

To Comment number 21 - You might want to be careful about the words you choose, because someone could easily take your final sentence as a death threat towards Dan Lovranski.

Then again, you said it was Gotthorm that would do it, and all he does is spam the forum with his petition. Is that your mighty leader? STILL no one has answered my challenge to name one person that ever got fired from a petition. Why do you think that is? I'll tell you why. No one has. If you think that some one can, then read the first two paragraphs of this entry again. All you are doing is creating a buzz for the show. Thank you for making Dan's job safe.

A few things-

First off, I completely agree with you Dan. When I first started watching wrestling, I caught a lot of flack from people who assumed it catered only to drooling morons. And yes, at times that has been true- the wrestling companies certainly pander to the lowest common denominators of racism and sexism, and I've met my fare share of wrestling fans who came from the shallow end of the gene pool. There are, however, countless smart and witty wrestling fans out there. Why were they the silent minority- or even majority- before the era of the internet? Probably because they didn't want to be lumped in with all the other racist, sexist dumbfucks out there.

I also believe in complete freedom of speech. I may not like what some people have to say, but they have the right to say it. I will say one thing though- freedom of speech does not necessarily mean free access to a public forum. When it comes to people like Gotthorm and Bird, who are here for no reason other than to try to make the site worse, there is no reason to provide a place to spew their garbage. They're entitled to free speech, but they can come up with their own medium- let them make their own website, and say whatever they want there.

Karsten my friend - saying that only certain people should have access to something that is free and meant to be used by everyone sounds a bit commie. Are you a communist in disguise? If so, it would go a long way to explain your prejudiced Impact reports.

Dan...I respect you, your opinions, and your right to voice them accordingly. But MHO...You are WAY OFF, in laying blame at the feet of the fans, for the horrible state pro wrestling currently finds itself in. It has NOTHING to do with the fans, and EVERYTHING to do with the wrong type of individual governing wrestling's corporate hiarchy. How can I, as a fan, dictate corporate policy to Vince McMahon? Either with my words, or behaviour? The fans can't exactly strongarm him, and say "You better give your employees time off and health benefits. Or ELSE!". Or else WHAT? Vince understands while it's a concern for one fan, it's not for another. And there will never be a united front big enough to spawn the required change. I've seen the same type of individuals watching NASCAR that watch pro wrestling. And last I checked, "drunken redneck" fans of that sport, certainly haven't stoppped it from evolving its safety standards, or even hindered an investigation into such. As for the Benoit tragedy, again. Why haven't you looked into the wrestling corporate hiarchy, to find the answers there? You honestly think some of those multi-millon dollar C.E.O's DON'T have any pull in Congress? That they're above saying to state officials, "Let us police ourselves. We can take care of our own."? What happend to Benoit and his family happend BECAUSE of a general sense of indifference in the buisness. Drugs, steriods, and painkillers became standard fare that came with the territory in pro wrestling. Just like extensive travel, and sleeping in hotels. When one of the more larger names in pro wrestling, offers this advice to newcomers during an interview, "If you are not willing to take steroids and painkillers, then you have no right being in professional wrestling.", what's that say about the general state of apathy? Sorry, Dan. I'll gladly take responsibility for the things I do. But not some else's inaction. That isn't my cross to bear. I had NOTHING to do with that.

Yee boy - He doesn't do anything wrong. The people that complain do so just to complain. They still listen every week and hang on his every word. But I'll tell you what the issues are.

Some people believe that the Law, in particular Dan Lovranski, are too sensationalistic and biased with their interviews and coverage of the business. Some accuse Dan of leading the interviewee to suit Dan's needs. Forcing them to become confrontational or look bad. This is a more conservative approach.

On the other side, people believe that Dan is not afraid to speak his mind on an issue. Nor is he afraid to ask certain questions from his interviewee's. This is a more liberal approach.

I tend to believe in the latter. But you decide for yourself.

1. use registration. I mainly propose this not for the sake of identifying the posters but at least that way no can post under someone else's name...

2. this whole "freedom of speech so you can't delete posts" is a bit stretched here... I do believe in freedom of speech but if someone comes to my house to discuss stuff a guest has to somewhat behave politely and be not insulting... else I throw 'em out, easy as that. so if folks just can't stick to some basic board rules they're entitled to use their freedom of speech on their very own website in this wide world of the web...

"Why do you think the government in the USA didn't do anything after the Chris Benoit tragedy and investigate the problems in pro wrestling?"

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Why should the US government have to do anything? That would be like them doing something about Ringling Bros., if a clown went crazy and killed somebody, or shutting down the set of "The Young and the Restless," because one of their actors died of a drug overdose. This is one of the problems, that can be laid at the feet of Vince. This is not a sport. There is no vested interest, i.e. gambling. Nobody's making money off this except Vince. Why would it be the government's job, US, Canadian, or what have you, to keep track of guys that can't or won't take care of themselves? There are tons of things you can do besides pro wrestling.

33. Jericho

I can't believe how some of you are actually defending Dan on this one. The guy is a hypocrite.

First of all, Dan lied to Aries. That's something that seems to go over the head of most here. Dan told him he was being brought in to talk about ROH. Like bird said, he was tricked into doing the interview.

As if that wasn't shameful enough, Dan insisted on carrying on with the same line of questioning even though Aries makes it clear right from the get go that he's not interested in talking about TNA because he realized where it was headed.

"and the other difference is I work for one company now and I don't work for the other"

"You know, honestly, I look at it now as kinda old news, and now it's so long ago I kinda just focus on the now and the future and I try not to look back too much"

The fact of the matter is that Austin Aries will never, e-e-eeeeeeever, do an interview with the guys at Live Audio Wrestling again. This goes for Bret Hart and all the other wrestlers who Gotthorm mentioned in his petition too. LAW is becoming blacklisted by the wrestlers and it's all thanks to Dan Lovranski.

All you have to do is compare the level of guests other wrestling radioshows are able to bring in these days, and you'll understand that something is not right. Enjoy 2009 with the most obscure and irrelevant guests making their way onto this program. Pitiful.

I dont like your opinions on wrestling Dan. I actually cringe throughout just about every episode. I understand you are paid to be critical, and to form unique opinions, but outright jumping on anything you think is !Bad Booking! right away, with comeplete negativity, is what bothers me. Also, the fact that you guy critique matches, having never been qualified to judge anyones work, bothers me. When you say a match was great based on a few 'SPOTS' is ridiculous -to me- But its not like Jason and John are innocent of these things. Regardless of these issues and many other things, I still enjoy listening every week, and having ask a wai at the end really really helps me unwind from it all, also giving me a better introduction to the guys I listen to every week. After reading what you have to say, I will admit I like you a lot more, and I will continue to listen. I tried my best to condense this post and be respectful like you asked, take it for what it is I suppose.

Jericho - This last year and a half the law has had Eric Bishoff, Kevin Nash, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Jeff Hardy, Jesse Ventura, Booker T, Trish Stratus and Ted Dibiase. So any decline in guest quality has yet to be seen. I would doubt that people will boycott the show as a result of Austin Aeris. The fans that don't like the show won't even boycott it or this site.

Well what do you know, for the EIGHT time in this comment section my post has been deleted! I take this as a clear sign that Dan does not have a reply, that he does not want to be embarrased any further, and that the things he said about "freedom of speech" is a blatant lie. For those of you who missed my message, here it is for the EIGHT time...

Dan, I've covered your Nov 19th Schmoz Interview with Austin Aries extensively on this board, and the feedback I got was 99 percent in agreement with what I had to say. I also got some feedback from your victim Austin Aries himself. Let me remind you...

thefightnetwork.com\ssets\Downloads\112\101908.mp3 - download The Schmoz Interview if you haven't already heard it

from bird

"Well what do you know, there's now a written transcript of Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski's torturous interview with Austin Aries over at Lords of Pain... www.lordsofpain.net\index2.html - check the headline 'Austin Aries Interview Transcript. Kayfabes Reporter, TNA, ROH, WWE, Wrestling In Montreal, More' posted October 20, 2008. If you read the questions Dan are asking and just think for a second about how he comes across... just think! ... then it's quite mind boggling that this hobo is the lead host of Live Audio Wrestling. What's even more pathetic is the way Dan tries to make himself out to be smart and belittle the guy he just interviewed right after he hung up the phone and wished him 'continued success'. Someone should do a shoot interview with Austin Aries and ask him how enjoyable it was to be interviewed by Dan Lovranski - I'm betting he's another one of those wrestlers that will never come back to LAW because of one Dan Lovranski. The only solution to all this is to remove Dan Lovranski from the airwaves so that Live Audio Wrestling won't burn any more bridges. You gotta nip this thing in the bud."

from Megantic Outlaw

"Hey there surfing bird - I checked out that transcript and I think we have to coin a new phrase to describe it. I'm applying for a patent of intellectual property for the following - The Schmoz Interview. Whaddyathink? "

from mr. mcCluckCluck

"Although I respect Dan Lovranski and most of his opinions as they pertain to pro wrestling, I have to agree that he fucked that interview up completely. Dan, for Christ's sake, if the interviewee wants to spread shit about a promotion he or she worked for in the past, he or she won't need prodding from anyone to do it. Wrestlers have a rep for being bitter and holding a grudge. The first question you asked was clearly an attempt to turn the segment into a shit slinging match between Aries and TNA. You could have started the interview by asking questions about his work history besides TNA. You might have gotten an interesting viewpoint of the indie scene over the last 10 years. Dan, I like Live Audio Wrestling so please STOP PISSING WRESTLERS OFF"

from Small Pox

"S t y - Ok I'll have a go. Lily has addressed your first point and has probably hit upon a truth. Quote "has the Mouth not watched ROH?" His game plan going in appears to be that he will get AA to dish the dirt on TNA. Even though Aries does not rise to the bait DL persists in that line of questioning even trying to put words in his mouth. After this is unsuccesful, he immediately minimizes what AA is doing by making the assumption that he would like to work his way up to WWE. At some point I guess Aries becomes a bit piqued by the lack of preparation and DL's skipping over ROH and stiffs him with the hair and eye liner stuff. As a long time listener, I have heard DL and JA dump on guests after the fact when the interview did not go as planned. And your last point 4 - possibly if he were the only one, but no, not if he is another of a growing list who will not return. "

from Pizza Slice

"Vince or Tna should since Kimbo, I think he would be a big draw.

Btw, Dan is a complete arrogant ahole, especially for the cracks he made at Bret's expense. Shameful and classless. Who cares, the fans have no fn input into this show. Dan completely sucks everyone wants Pollack to take over but we're stuck with that blowhard the mouth."

from Jack Daniels

"Yo bird thanks for showing us that interview, about time someone put Mouth's dreaded interview skillz on display. I think we can all agree that Mouth possess the three R's... retardedness, redundancy, and rudeness. "

from bird

"In reply to Cashmere Jay under comment number 15... the transcript is word for word accurate. The transcript was probably written that way in order to point out what a STUMBLING, MUMBLING, FUMBLING IDIOT Dan Lovranski is. It's like he loses his train of thought midway through asking the question and has to start over - it's completely amateurish and disrespectful towards poor Austin Aries! Or how would you, Cashmere Jay, describe Mouth's manner when he asked the following question --- "I guess not... obviously not... Well, ahh... have ahh... has ROH done... I'm sorry I'm not sure... has ROH done a show in Montreal before, is this their first show in Montreal?""

from bird

"It sounded every bit as embarrassing as it reads, Bam Boozle... You can hear it in Austin's voice after the first two questions that he's thinking "who the fuck is this guy, I want out of here". I mean, what on God's green earth was Dan thinking when he decided to open up with this question -- "Now because you're one of those guys, Austin, who's worked with both ROH and TNA I wanted to kinda get your thoughts on the two promotions and how they differ from another?" What the fuck? Did he expect Austin to give us some groundbreaking news or secret about what the differences are? It's plain as day what the differences are! Not only is it a TOTALLY and UTTERLY stupid question, it is also BORING as hell and a waste of Austin's time. Dan Lovranski should hang his head in shame."

"Well what do you know, I sent Austin Aries an email asking him about the interview he did with Dan Lovranski, specifically why he stiffed him with the kayfabe comments and if he would ever consider coming back. I'm working on getting Gotthorm to take a look at this in between litigation, but in the meantime take a look at what I got in reply. Here's Austin Aries...
Lovranskis an ass. I was asked to do this interview to talk about ROH, not some other promotion. And as far as these guys saying im out of touch, theyre just upset cause i wouldn't talk to them like they're one of the boys.....cause they're not! I will gladly do another interview with them, but in studio only. If they have something they want to say about me they can do it in person to my face and not hide behind their telephones. And you can quote me and share this with whomever you like."

... so after all these posts... after all this criticism... you still have the gall to come on here and say in regards to your Schmoz Interview... "I thought it was terrible, but not because of anything I did." THIS TAKES THE CAKE! Your reply to this situation is a prime example why so many have distain for you and are signing petitions to have you removed from the airwaves. It would have helped you immensely if you had admitted responsibility and said something like "The Austin Aries interview was not one of my proudest moments. I realize this was due to my line of questioning and not doing enough preparation for the interview. If I have offended any Austin Aries fans out there then I sincerely apologize. I can only promise that I will try my best to improve in the future so that something like this never happens again. Thank you for listening." If you had said that, I would get off your back - at least until the next time you offend one of your guests. Maybe you would be better off hiring a PR agent to handle all this negative publicity?

Lord knows I wouldn't want to be you when Gotthorm comes back...

Calm down everyone.

We admit Mouth is not the best at conducting interviews but that does not however warrant all this abuse. People who call him "imbecile, "drunk", "crackhead", "asshole", and such should really be ashamed of themselves. He's put his heart into this show, always with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. I hate to see all this positivity get sucked out of him. If this continues he'll be a shell of his former self by the time he retires.

Please, cut out the abuse and show some consideration.

If you would like to speak to us, please do so by e-mail or on Sunday nights on the live blog. If we ignore you that means we don't value you as a listener.

Until then, obey the LAW,
Jason Agnew

Bird - Posts on the forum are not publicity. Don't believe me? Here is Oxford Dictionary's definition of Publicity - the notice or attention given to someone or something by the media.

Posts on a message forum is not publicity, because it has nothing to with the media. Do you have an example of bad publicity, or any evidence at all to back up your claim in this matter?

Can anyone tell me why this Dan Lovranski is even employed at LAW? What does he bring to the table? Listening to that Austin Aries interview is enough to make you cringe!

On the October 30th edition of LAW, now available for download at thefightnetwork.com\assets\Downloads\119\113008.mp3, Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski orders the online community to pay him respect. You won't believe the words that comes out of the queef huffing lamp shitter between 103.09 and 104.14.

Quote - "Well, you know, if if if they wanna come out and say the things they do... overall, I don't have a lot of problem with it, but I ask for a little bit of respect - DON'T come on the board and criticize myself, or John, or Jay, or Wai, and just call us like 'imbeciles''... or 'cocksuckers'... or 'crackheads'... or whatever goofy shit comes out of your mouth! I'm tired of that! I'm just tired of being told I'm a 'janitor', I look like a 'homeless guy', I eat 'cheese logs in my mom's basement'... whatever goofy shit you guys can come up with, I'm tired of it and I don't wanna hear it... and, we're not gonna listen to anything you have to say. Now if you sit down and go 'well, Dan... I think this, and I disagree with this' - give us some solid points, bangzu I love you, 5 stars. But don't get on there and go 'hey guys I think you're a bunch of fucking assholes on crack' alright, 'cause that don't cut it."

Now of course, for those of us who have been subjected to Dan's horrendous hosting of The Law over the years, a statement like this will not stand on its own merits. It's completely ludicrous for Dan to demand respect when you consider his behavior. Furthermore, respect has to be earned - you can't just demand it unless you're very high up in the social hierarchy. Last time I checked Dan Lovranski was still a janitor destroying the legacy of The Law bits by bits every Sunday, all the while dressing like a bum.

So the only other way Dan can earn respect is if he shows remorse for what he has done. Act a bit apologetic, even if you don't mean it. Unfortunately for Dan he's not smart enough to realize that this would be his best course of action. A prime example of this would be his handling of the Austin Aries fiasco. Here he goes and completely alienates yet another wrestler with his Schmoz Interview techniques, to the point where the wrestler afterwards calls him 'an ass' and tells his friends to never go near a certain radio show based in Toronto.

Knowing all this, what does Dan do in response?

He writes a column on this site called "Q What has 24 Arms, 24 Legs and 6 Teeth?" where he basically concludes that the US government didn't investigate pro wrestling after the Benoit murders because the fans are considered 'trailer park trash', 'rednecks', and 'other casualties of society'. In Dan Lovranski's words, the government "won't take it seriously because they think all the fans are just dummies and don't care anyway". It's at times like this you start to wonder if Dan Lovranski really is 10 IQ points short of being retarded.

But back to what I was saying about earning respect by showing remorse... in his column, Dan also comments on the Schmoz Interview he did with Austin Aries by saying "I thought it was terrible, but not because of anything I did". So there you have it - no remorse what so ever... and not a chance in hell of him ever earning respect.

If Dan Lovranski feels he is "above" owning up to and apologizing for his actions, then whether he agrees with it or not he will forever be beneath all contempt.

For reference, the Schmoz Interview with Austin Aries can be found at the following link - tune in at the 25.00 mark thefightnetwork.com\assets\Downloads\112\101908.mp3

This message will probably be deleted shortly, thus confirming my claim that Dan Lovranski feels he is "above" criticism, but rest assured it will be put right back up. In the meantime you can sign my petition to get Dan Lovranski removed from the airwaves at www.petitiononline.com\Mouth\petition.html

I always suspected that Dan Lovranski was somewhat of an ass after hearing stories about how he squeezed out Danny Abreu so he could overtake his position. After reading this column I know for a fact he is an ass. He might be flying high right now, but in the end we all meet our maker... Dan will get his.

So you are upset that people are rude to you and that some fans are making offensive comments. Gee thats a shame. I suppose I would take you more seriously if you and your crew did not make fun of fat people for three weeks in a row after the show on live audio extra. Of course thats different because its YOU thats being rude. Don't worry, I don't expect you to apologize. That would show a level of class that you have only come to expect in others, but certainly not yourself.

This Dan Lovranski is not fooling anyone if he thinks he can convince people on here that the Austine Aries fuck up of an interview was not his fault. It's just a sad example of how stupid he is if he thinks he can pull off crap like this. The intelligent wrestling fan recognizes what's really going on here. Dan Lovranski --- you are a pathetic excuse of a human being. We'll never forget how you look down on us real wrestling fans.

Well, if they really didn't like him anymore then they wouldn't listen to the show or visit this site.

Gotthorms post is ridiculous. Why would Lovranski apologize if ratings are good? Why would he apologize if his critics listen to the show with great dedication? Why would he apologize if his critics add hits to the website every day? If he gave you what you wanted, less of you would visit this site. So calling him stupid shows a great lack of business understanding on the part of Gotthorm. He is a smart business man. People can't stop listening to his show, so the advertisers stay happy.

One has to wonder just how many have grown to hate Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski for how he's run the LAW into the shitter. If you take the number of signatures to my petition and compare it to the low number of traffic to this section of the site, then it's fair to speculate that Dan has a low vote of confidence from his listeners. You get the impression that Dan is out of his depth when it comes to carrying a whole show. Leave it to one of the founding fathers of Live Audio Wrestling, "Big Daddy" Donnie Abreu to put into words how most of us feel... "I always thought Mouth's personality was more suited for a 2 minute segment and not a 2 hour show and I still feel this way today".

But back to my original question... how many hate Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski? The problem with finding even an estimate number for this is that most of the listeners who are turned off by Dan are never heard from. They just silently move on, start listening to a different show, and stop visiting this website. If Live Audio Wrestling was the only wrestling radioshow available, then I guarantee you there would be a public outrage against Dan for what he's done to the show.

Make no mistake about it - when Dan Lovranski stabbed Danny Abreu in the back by lobbying to have him removed as host so that he could take his place, that was when LAW got the Lovranski sickness. Dan himself probably realized he wasn't suited for doing anything more than the "Jabroni of the Week" segment, but because he underestimates the intelligence of wrestling fans - calling them "trailer park trash, rednecks and other casualties of society" in one of his columns - he foolishly thought he would be able carry the whole show. The reality of the situation has hit him flat in the face, which is why he doesn't have the guts to take calls from people who might criticize him.

Some of the people who Dan doesn't have the guts to argue with I found at THE BOARD over at f4wonline.com. Now keep in mind, the people who post there are the subscribers of Wrestling Observer and Figure Four Online. In other words, well informed fans who can spot a janitor moonlighting as a wrestling radiohost when they hear one. So when you do a search for 'Dan Lovranski' or 'Live Audio Wrestling' it's not surprising that all the comments are negative, with the one common denominator being that the show sucks because of Dan Lovranski. There's even a poll over there listing about 10 wrestling radio shows and asking which one is the best - last time I checked LAW was the only show with zero votes.

I think it would only be fair if I quoted some of the comments over at THE BOARD, to give Dan Lovranski a little taste of the voices he's so desperately trying to censor. And if we can make any sort of conclusion from reading into this demographic, then YES - a lot of people do hate Dan Lovranski.

"I've told this story several times, but it is my favorite Live Audio Wrestling story. It was the show after WrestleMania 21, and they went on and on about how horrible the show was. Callers called in and said they liked the show, and the hosts mocked them. How could they like such a horrible show?

Dave Meltzer then came on to do his segment.

Lovranski "You sound sort of down."
Meltzer "Yeah."
Lovranski "I'm guessing you didn't like the show?"
Meltzer "NO, THE SHOW WAS AWESOME!"

The hosts were taken aback. And they sounded SO sad the rest of the show. Their hero had humbled them."

"He is awful. He seriously thought that ECW would replace Smackdown once the network became the CW because it would be great marketing to say "ECW on the CW"."

"saw him on Off the Record last week. Is it his gimmick to dress like he's trailer trash from America's South. Horrible."

"Maybe he works for room and board. There is no excuse for The Fight Network giving this man monetary compensation."

"I am in Toronto, I wish these guys were our local show instead of The Law, Dan Lovranski... I doubt I spelled his name right, he isn't worth looking up to correct it though....he has wasted enough of my life... might be the worst radio host in wrestling radio and podcasting history."

"Lovranski = King of the Tools"

"Why does Dave associate with these people? Dan Lovranski is just.... he's just awful."

"Pollack is the only one I can really stand on the LAW. Lovranski and Agnew are idiots until Meltzer sets them straight."

"I loved how Lovranski was so gung-ho on the RAW Rating being down because "people are sick of all of the gimmick matches" when Dave shot him down mentioning the BCS Title Game was on opposite RAW."

"Lovranski, easily the most uneducated, educated wrestling fan."

"I quit watching last year when the new CW network was starting up and he was convinced that Smackdown was going under and ECW was moving in it's time slot because there would be ECW on The CW. After about 3 straight weeks of him saying this was going to happen and pushing it, I finally gave up on the show. Idiot."

"The way Lovranski just cut Jericho off was very dicky but what do you expect?"

"I swear it seems like they're always stuck in 150 percent Super Smark Mindset and can never ever enjoy anything WACKY! thank gawd for Bryan and Vinny."

"if Dave ever stopped doing the show, it would immediately lose about 75 percent of it's value."

"All the LAW guys were kind of assholes like it was a requirement, and theyd always listen to whatever Dave's newsletter said. "

"Lovranski irritates me like the Phantom on Get In The Ring. The Phantom is a little more bearable but not by much."

"Has anything good came out of this show in years? I'm not being sarcastic or mean.. it's a legitimate question."

"I used to like Jeff Marek of Live Audio Wrestling. But he left and now LAW is hosted by Dan Lovranski, and I wouldn't mine seeing that guy get beat with a lead-pipe for a few days straight."

"The guy is also an awful interviewer. He just seems to have a list of predetermined questions to ask, and after the interviewee answers each one, he says "Interesting!"... always "Interesting!".. and goes on to the next question on his list. He never follows up on the answer the person just gave him. It's like he's not even listening to what the guy he's interviewing is saying. What is the point?"

"Now if i have to hear Dan Lovranski go "Uh-Huh" every time Big Dave is in the middle of saying something i want to burst my computer and throw it across the room."

"Dan Lovranski is a very annoying man."

"Dan Lovranski is far worse just being Dan Lovranski. I can't stand that fucking stoner dipshit."

"LAW has never been the same since Jeff left. The other guys are just too negative about everything. Outside of anything to do with Dave and Bryan, the best wrestling radio show for me is Between the Ropes. Informative and funny as hell."
