Gilbert Melendez:

-Says jokingly, that he calls Josh and himself “even” and they don’t have to do a third.

-Proclaims that he feels as though he and Josh don’t get the respect they deserve amongst those in the media, with rankings and the heavy focus that is drawn by the UFC and away from Strikeforce.

Josh Thomson:

-Calls Gilbert the better man tonight, no excuses—classy in defeat.

-All smiles, even after having lost, still believe that neither fighters’ stock has either went up or down and that the fight in itself did a lot for both, even in defeat.

-States himself and “El Nino” will “smash” all the lightweights in the UFC and wants to run a clinic and potential new signees and the lightweight DREAM stars, should any of them assimilate into Strikeforce

-Says Gilberts timing was the ultimate key to victory for him Saturday night and that he was never to get off on the kicks without some hesitation due to the takedown.

Scott Coker:

-In regards to Gilbert and Josh, states that he would like to see Shinya Aoki and Tatsuya Kawajiri much up with his boys, respectively.

-Officially announces the Strikeforce Welterweight title to be up for grabs between bad boy, Nick Diaz and DREAM Welterweight champion, Marius Zaromskis.

-Says Jay Hieron will be offered a fight in January, on the same card as Nick and will get the next title shot, should he beat his TBD opponent.

-Claims that the relationship now between DREAM and Strikeforce was the ultimate decision maker when it came to putting the welterweight title up for grabs between Nick and Marius and is no reflection on Hieron in a negative way.

-Announces Marloes Coenen and Cris Cyborg for the 145-lbs Women’s title, on the January 30th card in Florida, along with Bobby Lashley and Herschel Walker to make their promotional debuts on the same night.

Marloes Coenen:

-While sitting next to the almost “Amazon”-like woman that is “Cyborg”, states that in Santos’ last fight, says she saw lots of holes in her opponents game.

-Holds no fear of Santos—“she has two arms and two legs”; “she is human”

-Says training with guys like Semmy Schilt and Alistair Overeem out of Golden Glory in Holland is what is helping her assimilate perfectly into MMA.

Cris Santos:

-Quiet for the most part, adorning a new brunette mane, just states that she looks forward to January 30th and will put on a good show for the title.

King Mo:

-Gives Scott Coker his own crown—just as Scott begins to put it on his head for laughs and giggles, begins taking it off before the “King” asks him to keep it on. A cool headed Scott keeps it on for the remainder of the interview, making for some very cool youtube clips.

-Says Middleweight, Light heavyweight, Heavyweight all options. Not concerned with losing, just wants to gain the experience.

-Says Dan Henderson, Fedor Emelianenko, Gegard Mousasi—all options for the future, since their own recent signings. Interestingly enough, Lawal does much of his camp with Team Quest, with Dan Henderson at the helm.

Nick Diaz:

-Looks forward to January 30th opposite Zaromskis. Saw some tape on him and was impressed with his run through DREAM.

-States that a Hayato Sakurai fight was in the works and feels as though the late cancellation of said fight, explains in of itself that Sakurai was “afraid” to fight him and essentially it was Karma biting Hayato when he was knocked out by the “Whitemare”.

-Perplexed why he himself wasn’t fighting Cung Le, considering he beat Scott Smith and then “Hands of Steel” was still able to adorn main event honors opposite of the San Shou master.

-Says he “knew that was going to happen”, when Scott Smith knocked out Cung. Calls him a kick boxer, not an MMA fighter.

Matt Lindland:

-Dissapointed with the loss. Doesn’t feel “beat up”, but just got caught. Says he will be back as soon as possible.

Ronaldo Souza:

-Calls out Jake Shields for the middleweight title.

-Says he will be open to a fight with Gegard Mousasi in the future, should he come back down to 185—Scott Coker agrees, should they both continue winning, that it will happen.

-Isn’t “thrilled” about it, but would be open to a third fight with Jason Miller, should the promotion deem that fight worthy and pertinent.

Scott Smith:

-Calls the fight with Cung Le his “title shot” and that no other fight has compared since.

-Feels that he needs to change his approach in fights—not get beat up so much early on and later rally back for the win, but rather would like to come out the aggressor early on.

-Says a slew of matches are possible with him, since Strikeforce’s middleweight division is the deepest of the promotion.

-Claims it’s always his heart and never-say-die attitude that brings him the victory even when seemingly defeated.

-Calls his left hook, not his right hand, his really money shot and will look to utilize it more in the future.
