Loretta Hunt of Sherdog.com has confirmed that Kevin 'Kimbo Slice' Ferguson will take on Ken Shamrock in the main event of the Oct. 4 Elite XC "Saturday Night Fights" card from the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Names being floated around last week in addition to Shamrock included Brett Rogers and even Sean Gannon, who fought Slice in a street fight a number of years ago that surfaced online.

Shamrock last fought on Mar. 8 at the Cage Rage 25 event losing to Robert 'Buzz' Berry and showed a decline in his reflexes, which made him vulnurable to Berry's standup game.

Elite XC will be officially announcing the fight tomorrow.

I pick Kimbo, but you can't discount Kens ability to rip a leg off his apponent. Kimbo won't have the inate ability to defend that style.

Brett WHO!??!?... Come on... Elite XC's choice to pick Ken Shamrock was a great one. Why pick someone that has ZERO name recognition to the casual fan?

CBS will draw big numbers with this fight and if your in the business of making money and ratings which last I checked was the goal of doing business then this is a good choice by EliteXC.

Only thing they can do to sweeten this pot is add Gina Carano to the card and its a home run ratings-wise for sure.

well if your arguement is "the casual fans" i doubt Shamrock has a whole hell of a lot more recognition. Casual fans won't know him as an mma fighter, and he's long removed from his pro wrestling days. no matter what, to the casual fan, you're going to have to sell Shamrock.

as for the fight, i'd like to say Shamrock. he's the legit guy. he's not a sideshow act with a padded record. what? obviously i was talking about Bob Sapp. However, that having been said, the last time Ken Shamrock was FED a guy to pummel, ol' Ken got knocked out

Preposterous!!! I mean, Come On!!! Shamrock got knocked out by Buzz Berry who retired after losing badly in his very next fight against Neil Grove, a virtual unknown. Ken's too small to even be fighting at light Heavyweight much less against a brawling physical specimen beast like Kimbo Slice at heavyweight. If Sags of the Nasty Boys beat the shit out of Shamrock badly enough to send him to emerge, and this when Shamrock was in his prime, how much less of a chance would he have against a bigger, tougher, meaner and far far more talented at least at throwing and landing power punches, opponent like Slice?!?!? It's shameless for Elite XC to be featuring this and stupid as fuck for Shamrock to be fighting at all, against anybody.

Furthermore, Shamrock is 3-8 in the last 12 YEARS and those 3 wins are against opponents with a combined record of 21-40. His career should have been over after the loss to Sakuraba in 2005, yet he chooses to continue to embarrass himself and transform his legacy represented by the more suitable moniker. The World's Most Dangerous Man To Himself.

Fuck this shit. I don't want to see Ken take one more beating. Someone needs to interviene on his behalf. Elite XC ought to be ashamed for putting this fight together.

fuck! Kimbo will never get to fight Gannon ever again now. After this he will by far out class him. Shamrock's the man, sorry WAS the man but now he's just a washed up fight bum like Tank. After this fight they better fuckin have someone who can really throw down. Oh i kow like Rogers!!

Ken must have really been hit hard his last time out... What is he thinking? Does he need the money? He's trampling any kind of legacy he's left and embarrasing the sport.

Dont count ken out yet. sure he may be past his prime but he has what is called a puncher's chance dont forget. not to mention his great submission ability. we are talking about a past champion and hall of famer here. Sure age is not on his side, but our current ufc heavyweight champ is 45, so dont play the age game to far. Ken has not been successfull as of late with to many wins but your always one win from greatness again if you defeat a so called upcoming star. Kimbo or elite or maybe both are scared to fight a prime fighter it seems, so this is their choice of whom they think kimbo can beat. Let's go ken, send him back to the streets. I think kimbo should take a page out of brock's book and grow some balls.
