UFC President Dana White officially announced during Wednesday’s Spike TV telecast of UFC Fight Night 15 that the promotion will be holding a special fight card on Dec. 10 in Fort Bragg, N.C. to be titled “UFC Fights for the Troops.”

The show, which will be broadcast on Spike TV, will be a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides financial support to deceased and wounded U.S. military veterans. White indicated that viewers will be encouraged to call-in and donate to the fund during the broadcast.

The announcement of the event means that December will be a busy month for Zuffa. On Dec. 3, the UFC’s sibling-promotion World Extreme Cagefighting will hold a card that will be televised live on VERSUS. On Dec. 13, the UFC will present the live season finale for the current eighth season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” The month of events will conclude for the promotion on Dec. 27 during its annual New Year’s Eve weekend show in Las Vegas with UFC 92.

No fights for the Dec. 10 have been officially announced but MMAjunkie.com had previously reported that former Navy veteran Dale Hartt is expected to take on Corey Hill in a lightweight encounter. The site also reported that Rich Clementi, another Navy veteran, could be a candidate for the show as well. MMAMania.com is also reporting that Josh Koscheck could take on Yoshiyuki Yoshida in a featured welterweight encounter.

The UFC previously held a military-themed event at the California’s Marine Corps Miramar Air Station in December of 2006.
