Just one day after welterweight Jon Fitch was released by the UFC, he has returned to the organization after a chaotic day according to MMARated.com.
Fitch spoke with UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta and has agreed to sign the video game merchandising deal.
The negotiations between UFC president Dana White and Fitch's manaagement Zinkin Entertainment shut down yesterday and resulted in both Fitch and Christian Wellisch being let go by the UFC.
As part of the deal made today, Christian Wellisch is also being brought back by the UFC.
One would assume that this agreement will also prevent Josh Koscheck and Cain Velasquez from leaving the organization.

I just lost alot of respect for Jon Fitch. So much for setting the example for others. Fitch allows White to talk shit about him like that and fire him, after all the killer fights he put on for the UFC? That's just sad.
Honestly...can you blame the guy...what were his options? Even if there was a decent alternative the pay days would be nothing like what are available in the UFC...
Dana dodged a bullet. Can you imagine what would happen if he alienated whole camps?? He would have lost both Kos and Velasquez, and probably Swick too. Other MMA companies can't compete with the UFC.....till the UFC starts giving them whole gyms worth of talent.
I though Jon Fitch would fight the good fight. I guess not. He threw in the towel. Now Dana White and the UFC owns his likeness forever That's two loses in a row, one to GSP and the other to the UFC.
Paul...honestly...Think Dana is going to magically forget this temporary rebellion on behalf of Fitch? Now that he's got Fitch by the financial short-hairs, I wouldn't put it past him to fire him a few months down the road. Fitch is crazy, if he think he's bought himself into a quasi-form of job security by signing over his rights to White. And based on his numbers, it wasn't like he was starving for cash in the first place.
D.G. Fitch signed a contract...that means money and a certain number of fights...the likeness issue was only a part of the contract. Dana can't fire someone under contract...if he wants to release him Fitch walks away with the money and is in a better situation than if he didn't sign. In the meantime all of these fighters that Dana is disrespecting can shop around for a better situation after there current contract is up. You can't expect these guys to be martyrs and "fight the good fight" when there just isn't anything else out there right now. Would you choose to be unemployed purely on principle? The best hope for any other promotions is that Dana continues to be a dick. If he starts to alienate whole gyms...perfect!...that's exactly what we need to start having something other that the UFC. Also, in the grand scheme I don' think signing over your likeness is that much of a loss...it doesn't have any affect on what happens in the ring.
Yes. I actually would. Because I'm able to see the forrest from the trees, and I know "unemployment" is not a permanent situation. Dana White isn't Jesus Christ. He doesn't walk on water, and the "monopoly" can't and won't last forever. Why do you think White's a 'heart attack' waiting to happen? Why do you think he'll fire one of his best guys, over his "likeness"? Why do you think he's always insulting other fighters and organizations? Because he KNOWS the threat of competition is always lurking aroung the corner. And what happend with the UFC, CAN happen to someone else who's a marketing genius. At one point, a fighter will have to stop fighting. Therefore, their image and name might be all they have. So if you're intelligent enough to retain such, it's a dollar in your pocket, as opposed to a dollar in someone else's. Such as White's.
I don't think that competition is a threat to the UFC. Legitimate competition is good for business, resulting in an improved product and a better value for the consumer. I can't wait for someone else to figure out how to make money and give the UFC some competition...
