CATEGORIES: Wrestling

**The "No Mercy" show last night was a very good one with the Chris Jericho Vs Shawn Michaels and Triple H Vs Jeff Hardy matches really putting this show over the top. Jericho and Michaels had a terrific ladder match and the tug of war spot was a very innovative spot that I've never seen done before. The real MVP's of the night were the crowd in Portland who made some mediocre matches seem better than they should have and added to the main events especially the final few minutes of the show where the heat was excellent. The negative on the show was that it seemed like the show wasn't timed out and they were killing a lot of time with TV segments that dragged forever and didn't lead to a thing. The surprise of the show was Matt Hardy and Mark Henry in one of Henry's best performances I can recall, where he sold his leg very well and the finish was simple and effective.

**Tonight "Raw" takes place from Seattle, Washington at the Key Arena. With "Cyber Sunday" coming up on October 28th this is going to be another rushed Pay Per View to promote. A huge positive coming off last night's show is that you have a pretty good idea of all the top matches that they will be building towards with Chris Jericho Vs Batista, Triple H Vs Vladimir Kozlov (and maybe add Jeff Hardy in that as well), The Undertaker Vs Big Show and I think they will go with CM Punk & Kofi Kingston challenging Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes.

**Last night's edition of The LAW is now online and AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD. We have a full rundown of the "No Mercy" card with Dan Lovranski and Jason Agnew offering their thoughts and analysis on the show, Mauro Ranallo joined us to discuss the chaotic Elite XC card Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida plus Dave Meltzer of the "Wrestling Observer Newsletter", who was also at the Elite XC show along with your calls and e-mails, Live Audio Xtra and Ask a Wai (which yet again went a ridiculous amount of time where we had 2 Facebook friends on the show, discussed our trip to the Lone Star Café and Nuit Blanche Saturday night, "What Pissed Us Off This Week", Cures for a hangover from some med students that wrote to us during the week and Wai discusses LAW groupies). The show is almost 3-hours and free - so you can't go wrong.

**As announced last night on The LAW, Eric Bischoff will join the show live next week to discuss "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling", which debuts on October 18th on CMT.

**Carl DeMarco recently chatted with Tim Baines of the "Winnipeg Sun" and hinted that a Pay Per View (believed to be "Judgment Day" next May 17th) will be coming to Canada. DeMarco also said that with the company touring globally that it has resulted in less shows in Canada and noted that a few years back he felt they were running Canada too often.

**The only dark match at "No Mercy" featured Tag Champions Carlito & Primo Colon going over John Morrison & The Miz.

**The WWE "Cyber Sunday" show takes place in Phoenix, Arizona and locally they are advertising that Steve Austin will be of part of the show.

**The LAW is down at O'Grady's Tap and Grill (171 College Street at McCaul - closest to Queens Part Station) in downtown Toronto for "Raw" on the big screen. When you show up, grab a trivia sheet from The LAW and at the end of the night the winner gets their choice of the prizes and then we give away the rest of the prizes to those in attendance - plus half priced chicken wings, which are excellent!

**Necro Butcher Vs Mark Briscoe Vs Delirious has been announced for the Ring of Honor event on October 24th in Danbury, Connecticut. They have also added Jerry Lynn Vs Claudio Castagnoli to that event.

**Steve "Mongo" McMichael is confirmed as the guest referee for the Monster's Ball at "Bound for Glory" with the obvious Chicago tie in.

**Charlie Haas is doing a weekly blog on WWE.com and is hinting that his next impersonation could be Steve Austin or Bill Goldberg.

**TNA star A.J Styles will be our guest on Fight Network Radio this Thursday at 3pm EST on Sirius 98 Hardcore Sports Radio.

**Here are the TNA house show results from Plattsburgh, New York yesterday:
*Consequences Creed over Petey Williams
*Cute Kip over Shark Boy
*Eric Young & Abyss over Jimmy Rave & Lance Rock
*A.J Styles over Sheik Abdul Bashir in a non title match
*Awesome Kong over Roxxi
*Beer Money Inc. over The Motor City Machine Guns to keep the Tag Titles
*Samoa Joe over Booker T. to keep the TNA Title

**Roxxi has bleached her hair blonde.

LAW MMA UPDATE

**The early numbers for the Elite XC show on Saturday are revealing that "Heat" averaged 4.3 million viewers from 9pm - 11pm EST - this doesn't include the main event, which went past 11pm EST and did a 2.5 among Males 18 -34 and a 1.8 among Males 18 - 49. The number is a good sign for Elite XC but the bigger issues are where the company goes after this past Saturday's show and seeing their biggest drawing card be decimated in 14 seconds.

**The show on Saturday night drew 9,414 with 7,723 of those paid at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. The gate for show was $826,000.

**Tito Ortiz has told MMARated.com that he will be undergoing back surgery and will be out until the spring of 2009. Ortiz was at the Elite XC show on Saturday night and stated he is about a week away from signing with Elite XC. In the same interview Ortiz mentioned that he was denied by the UFC to cover the surgery for his back.

**Frank Shamrock chatted with our good friend Ariel Helwani at MMARated.com and said he would be fighting Ken Shamrock in April of next year if Ken stays healthy.

**Five Ounces of Pain.com is reporting that Luke Cummo is off the December 10th UFC "Fight for the Troops" show where he was scheduled to fight Steve Bruno. Johnny Rees will step in to replace Cummo. Cummo injured himself in training but it is unknown what injury he sustained.

**MMA Weekly reports that UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre has signed on with the Creative Arts Agency, which is the same marketing company that also works with David Beckham and Derek Jeter. CAA will be attempting to create new opportunities for St. Pierre in movies, television, licensing and digital media and this could very well launch GSP into a superstar level that no one in MMA has attained at that high a level.

**Michael Lohan, the father of Lindsay Lohan is putting himself on the auction block for the Long Island Fight for Charity event. The winning bidder will get to box Lohan for 3 rounds. Bidding starts at $5,000 and you can get more information at www.lifightforcharity.com. The event takes place on November 24th at the Hilton Long Island in Melville.

FEEDBACK FORUM

Doug Savage:

One question regarding the Intercontinental Title DVD. Are we finally going to get to see the much talked about, but never before seen, tournament in Rio, where Pat Patterson becomes the first champion.

I'm guessing no.

Dominick Petrungaro:

I purposefully do not watch Smackdown anymore for the simple fact that HHH makes me incredibly angry for the way he buries the other talent. Low and behold, he moves into Raw and pretty much steals the moment that should have been HBK's and buries Cade. Pathetic. I recently found out that the WWE has sent out a memo to the gaming journalists asking them not to show screenshots of HHH in the new Raw vs smackdown game (not any other WWE superstars) in any compromising positions of vulnerability. HHH's pixelated self won't even look weak or put other wrestlers over. This is F'n bullshit!!! I (as well as many others) am tired of this idiot and when is Vince going to listen to what the fans want rather than what his family wants because if things do not change soon, I am not tuning in anymore!!

Drew McConnell:

A funny thing happened to me tonight. I went to the local movie theatre here in Fredericton, NB to watch No Mercy. As the 8pm ET time rolled around, there was no satellite signal coming through. We were then informed that they had some troubles in locating the satellite signal, and would be corrected promptly. Needless to say, that didn't happen. It wasn't until approximately 8:55pm ET when the signal was fixed. It picked up when CM Punk and Kofi Kingston was walking up the isle, and then into the Batista/JBL match. At first I was pretty aggravated about the situation. However, after listening to your review of the first half of the show, it almost seemed like a blessing in disguise.

Funny how things work, eh?

Jason Hooper:

Hi guys

Love the show.

Just a quick question.

If this isn't the last show on cbs for elite xc. Do you see CBS wanting elite xc to stop promoting Kimbo Slice as high on the next card after his performance saturday and just have him on the card as a regular fighter and promote somebody else that fans know like Andrei Arlofski or Gina Carano?

Also, how much would you pay to be one of the guys holding Gina Carano's towels at the weigh in?

Steve from Bradford:

Hey guys I wanted to do some fantasy booking with cm punk and wanted some feedback. cm punk will feud with the second generation stable and Randy Orton until Wrestlemania. randy will make his return at Survivor Series and wrestle cm punk because of the angle they have right now with punk wanting payback for Unforgiven, Orton will go over on Punk in his return with the help of the second gen stable Orton will acknowledge the stable and work together. cm punk will feud with the stable setting up a tag match at Armageddon between punk and Kofi vs. second gen stable with punk and Kofi going over. With Randy back in the picture he will aim to be the champ at Armageddon but punk will screw Orton and turn the tables with Orton wanting revenge on punk this will set up a match at the Royal rumble with punk going over. With Orton still hungry for revenge they will continue feuding in the following months wrestle at no way out in a elimination chamber match followed by the rubber match at Wrestlemania. That match can cement CM Punk as a main eventer with a win.

David Arlotto:

Hey guys long time listener and just wanted to pass on what I think is going to happen at TNA's Bound for Glory. in Jarrett - Angle match I think is going to be swerve (total Russo style) with both turning on Foley. It would be the vet's and Jarrett Vs Foley and the next Generation. It would give the young blood a mouth piece in Foley and Jarrett would be the McMahon of TNA.

Stephanie in Winnipeg:

Gentlemen, after hearing the rumors that Kurt was disrespecting the memory of Mrs. Jarrett, and then now hearing that he had, my thoughts on ordering TNA's October offering are at a total of zero.

Last year's Bound for Glory had three major selling points for me: the beginning of the Women's Division with the addition of several great females to the roster, Cage versus Joe and the fact that no matter what, it seemed as though TNA always pulled it together for this one show.

This year I look at the selling points and I'm left so cold, it feels like I'm standing at the North Pole. Actually, it feels like watching live video from the valley of misfit toys from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. All the folks that didn't fit elsewhere, getting together to have a collective bitchfest over their lot in life.

"Oh I don't get respect!"
"Oh I'm so hard done by!"
"I'm not with WWE anymore!" or the just-as-popular "I'd NEEEEEVER go to WWE because I'm so elite!"

I feel horrible for guys like Joe, who came into TNA with such promise to essential take over the world, now in the "job to Sting in October" slot.

This is the company that's supposed to be crossing the line? I'm crossing over alright, right over to anything else. Congratulations TNA, I'm officially tuning into Grey's Anatomy every Thursday.

Respect your fanbase TNA, give us the wrestling again. As Booker T used to say, save the drama for your mama!

Tejpal Bassi:

The last two matches were awesome, but other than that the show was pretty WEAK.

Got to give it a thumbs in the middle, towards up, just for the last 2 title matches.

P.S - Is MVP turning face, and when will Orton actually start wrestling ? ? ? ?

Ask A Wai is becoming one of my Monday morning highlights. Thanks for putting in the time to get the entire show uploaded in time to cure the Monday am blues. Anywho, please figure out a way to get the interviews running correctly. As l have written before, a lot of the interviews will play for a few minutes and then stop. I enjoy the interviews and it is great to hear from Thesz, Dutch Mantell and others but is aggravating when the interview cuts out. Thanks again.

I agree with Ryan from Atlanta. The "Ask a Wai" segment is very entertaining and look forward to hearing it each week. Keep up the good work guys.

Of course we won't see Paterson winning the IC title in the Rio tournament because the tournament never took place. Back in the day when there was no internet you could get away with false results, the title was given to him and the tournament was made up.

Hey Dabiggchill the Anti-Moron™ software on my PC went crazy when I started to read your post. Is that a conclusion or simply the place where you got tired of thinking? Have you ever noticed that whenever you sit behind a keyboard, some idiot starts typing? Just remember when Drew Peacock speaks...people listen.

Hey Ryan from Atlanta, how are you doing buddy. I really like your comments, I think you have a great sense of humour and I agree with the things you are saying. You sound like a really great guy so I was just wondering if you want to get together and have a beer with me sometime or maybe play some sports game like football or ice hockey. I live in the Church and Wellesley area. I just moved there recently because the rent is cheap, but between you and me I think there is something funny going on with the people there. Like yesterday for example...I'm walking home from the gym after a really intense workout. I was working on my abs and glutes and I really broke a great sweat. I work as a fitness model part-time so I'm in really great shape with rock hard six pack abs and great pecs. So anyways, I going home to meet up with one of my sexy girlfriends to have sexual intercourse with as I do on a regular basis, when all of the sudden I was stopped by these two big muscular guys wearing short-short cut-off jeans and see through tank tops. They were saying how great looking I am and that they want to take me to their place to have some fun. I said "No way!!! Get away from me. I don't want no part of your faggotry!" But they were very persistent and started grabbing me and trying to literally drag me to their place to have their way with me. I was fighting them off as best I could as they grabbed at me and ripped off my shirt. Luckily I got away from them and ran home with my shirt off while I was all sweaty. Has that ever happened to you? I don't have any problems with gay people, but I just want them to stay away from me, you know what I mean? I enjoy physical relations with women only, just like a real man. So anyways, as you can see I'd really like to get away from my area of town where there aren't too many of real macho men like me and you Chicken of the Sea. Maybe you can come see a Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey match with me some time. I have season tickets to all 82 games. Afterwards we can go hang out at my place and cook some steak. Like any real man I love to bar-be-que steak and drink beer. So what do you say, do you want to get together?

@6-Some losers just like to broadcast how sad the life they lead is. To think you would waste all that time writing retarded crap like that shows just how pathetic your life and you are.

Why thank you PTDC, but I must decline. You see, I already have season tickets to the Thrashers, Hawks, Braves, and Falcons none of which are winners just like your beloved Maple saplings. While I enjoy doing manly things, I am perplexed that you would refer to me as some sort of tuna fish. Chicken of the sea? What is that - must be a Canadian thing. Lastly, I do not eat BBQ'd steak, but prefer Steak Tartare.

I would say that it is a cross between Bastion Booger's visit to the bat-cave And Rikishi's stinkface myself, but the scent is discernible.

Looks like they removed my comments, which is fine. I don't blame them. I know if I could not make a complete sentence, I would not want one of my listeners to point it out.

And of course, Steve from Bradford is a bumbling moron.

Mr. Peacock,

I believe you got your name because of your pea-cock. I know that you hear size does not matter, but that is what they say to your face, if they can keep from cracking a smile. Fortunately I do not have to go through life in your situation. When I look down I actually see something. When I take a leak, I can grab a hold of my manhood. Sorry for you, when you want to pull it out, it doesn't make it past the zipper.

Sorry little man,
Dabiggchill

I didn't see the pay-per-view but from what I gathered, the Ladder Match was what saved the show.I had no idea they were coming out with an Intercontinental Championship DVD.The Honky Tonk Man might have held it longer than all the rest of them but it was the likes of Mr.Perfect,Tito Santana,Pedro Morales and Greg Valentine who dignified the title.

TNA has better talent but with Vince Russo booking,it's chances are slim of any longevity.

Just watched the show and wondered if Pollock's buddy Honkey knows that he's even in the running to be on Cyber Sunday?????

And to answer Peter's question, i actually think i would give up my left nut to be holding one of those towels up for Gina, at least i would seriously consider it.

Comments number 9 and 11 are not me. I am the real Pennywise and I don't like people impersonating me. Whoever is doing that better stop because you are making me very upset. Although, at the same time I do find it quite endearing that you would go to the trouble to impersonate me. It's kind of like a compliment. Actually, when I think about it, it's kind of a cool thing to do. Hey impersonator, you seem like a pretty cool guy. Would you like to get together and have some beers sometime. Afterwards we can go to my place and just hang out.

I've tried to download the Law for the past 2 weeks on my Iphone and it comes up saying cannot play movie. I've had no other issues with listening to other podcast from various sites, ESPN, The Pain Clinic etc... Is it me or is there something wrong with the link to podcast the show??
