**The WWE announced on Tuesday that they have released Armando Alejandro Estrada (Hazim Ali). Estrada wasn't being used on TV but had been part of the ECW brand over the last year and a half. Estrada came up through Ohio Valley Wrestling where he worked under the name Osama Rodriguez Alejandro where he worked as a bodyguard for Muhammad Hassan and later as a worker. He was called up in April 2006 and debuted as the manager of Umaga the night after "WrestleMania 22" and instantly began a feud with Ric Flair. Estrada got over instantly with his catchphrases to the point that the WWE told him to stop using them as they were getting babyface reactions. In an interview with The LAW in January 2007 Estrada told us that he would like to do more in ring work than simply managing.

**WWE "Raw" did a 2.9 rating on Monday night, down from last week's 3.1 rating and this show had a main event that was advertised a week in advance with Orton Vs Punk.

**Next week's edition of ECW (which will be taped Monday prior to "Raw" in Providence, Rhode Island) will feature an "Extreme Rules" match between Tommy Dreamer and Jack Swagger.

**Bill Goldberg will be on this weekend's edition of "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling" on CMT.

**The WWE sent out a press release announcing the launch of "WWE Universe" as their own social networking site where users can talk to talent, read blogs, upload photos and chat.

**My latest blog on the Survivor Series.

**The WWE stock continues to drop closing WEdnesday at $10.33, which is another 52 week low.

LAW MMA UPDATE

**M-1 has issued a statement in an attempt to put together a fight between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko. M-1 is asking for a co-promotional fight with M-1, Affliction and UFC, which has zero chance of happening with the UFC standing to gain nothing from a deal of that nature. The statement includes a quote from Randy Couture that he made at his post fight party Saturday where he said "Fedor would probably tear Brock up at this point".

**On "Ultimate Fighter 8" tonight it's the final quarter final fight with John Polakowski meeting George Roop at lightweight. There is also a big incident on the show where Polakowski snaps.

**The California State Athletic Commission held their hearing yesterday to formally accept the resignation of outgoing Executive Director Armando Garcia, who was not present at the hearing. Bill Douglas and Dean Lohuis have been appointed as the interim heads of operations and administrations. A search committee has been put together to find a permanent replacement, which could last until March of next year. Sherdog.com confirms that Douglas has applied for the job.

**Paulo Filho has officially been released from the WEC following his performance on November 5th against Chael Sonnen. Filho is in the process of moving to Los Angeles from Brazil.

**Five Ounces of Pain.com confirms that Marcus Aurelio has been left go by the UFC after his loss to Hermes Franca at UFC 90 in a dark fight.

**MMA Mania is reporting that Jon Fitch will fight Akihiro Gono at UFC 94 on January 31st in Las Vegas. Fitch last fought in the UFC this past August at UFC 87 where he lost a unanimous decision to Georges St. Pierre ending a 16 fight unbeaten streak for Fitch. Gono most recently lost to Dan Hardy by split decision at UFC 89.

**MMA commentator Stephen Quadros will appear on this Sunday's edition of "Dexter" on Showtime in the United States and TMN in Canada.

**Congratulations to Canadian and Puerto Rico wrestler Devon Nicholson who won the Joslin's Canadian Open Grappling tournament last weekend. The annual tournament is the largest Canadian grappling tournament put on by Rick and Jeff Joslin each year.

**UFC co-founder Art Davie will be on Fight Network Radio Thursday at 3pm EST on Sirius 98 Hardcore Sports Radio.

**I've recently started writing for "In Play Magazine" out of Detroit. The first article I wrote is currently on their site - click here for the full digital issue and my piece is on Page 38.

So what I take from WWE releasing Estrada was the guy could have achieved a lot more than he was able to because the WWE held him back. Just think of how many other guys that have come and gone in the WWE that could've gone a long way but the "powers that be" up there thought they were better suited for gimmicks such as a mentally retarded man or a guy who comes out each week immitating other past and present wrestlers and once those gimmicks get stale, they are reduced to being jobbers or let go. The two references I made where Nick Dinsmore and Charlie Haas. I can't leave out how they fucked over Lance Cade, Paul London and Val Venis who was one of the main attractions in the late 90s has since become the WWE's career jobber which is sad.

Great. It sucks when guys who try to be heels get turned face by the crowd. You couldn't, y'know, make any money off of that. Other than the NWO. Or Dx. Or The Rock. Or Stone Cold. Or Eddie Guerrero. When the fans like somebody, when they recognize talent, they will cheer. At least some, if not all, will turn. Why not have Estrada start a stable, use his bankable charisma to get them over, and then with hold it, to get more heat? Eve na tag team, remember those?
Beats firing the guy.

I agree, Estrada could have been used as a manager, but man, as a wrestler...good lord, he makes Mark Henry look like Bret Hart.

Another mouthpiece gone. I swear, the roster is either old guys that produce the same reaction as pavlov's dog, or meatheads that couldn't string three words together to make a convincing promo to save their lives. and jericho. It's a common example of cutting someone off at the knees and then letting them go because "we can't find anything for you to do." The greased up fat guy still has a job, right?
