**The WWE runs their second straight night at the Sheffield
Arena in Sheffield, England with the ECW and
‘Smackdown' TV taping tonight. Tonight's ECW show will include:
*Christian Vs William Regal for the ECW Title
*The Hurricane Vs Paul Birchill(If Burchill wins than
Hurricane unmasks and if Hurricane wins than Birchill is gone from ECW)
**The ‘Smackdown' TV tapings will feature:
*The Undertaker Vs Chris Jericho (this is being billed as
their match ever, they have worked tag matches opposite one another and they
did do a singles match earlier this year in Mexico but that's it. The fact they
are doing this on free TV when one of the biggest complaints among fans is the
lack of original matches in the top mix is beyond me when this could
legitimately be a top WrestleMania match next year. They can always still do
the match again but you can only bill it as ‘the first time ever' once and it
takes a little edge off of it by doing it on TV prior and in the world of the
WWE, you need every advantage you can have when promoting something on pay per
view)
*John Morrison Vs Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental
Title
**With one more edition of ‘Raw' left before the ‘Survivor Series' I can't believe the decision making for how they have promoted the main event with John Cena Vs Triple H Vs Shawn Michaels. This has to be one of the worst builds in the history of a major WWE pay per view where they have almost made you feel stupid if you actually would pay money to see this match. The comedy vignettes have been so poor and the promo last night backstage with the three was just downright horrible. I would thought after the terrible ‘SummerSlam' number came in that they would really tighten up their angles and make a concerted effort for getting pay per view numbers up but it seems that the opposite tact is being taken. As of right now, with a week and a half left before the show I don't see this show cracking 300,000 buys worldwide, it has been an embarrassing build for this show.
**Next week's edition of ‘Raw' from Madison Square Garden will be hosted by Roddy
Piper and will feature the following main event:
*John Cena & The Undertaker Vs Triple H & Shawn
Michaels Vs Chris Jericho & Big Show
**Vladimir Kozlov (Oleg Prudius) was at the Strikeforce
event this past weekend and was part of the M-1 entourage with Fedor
Emelianenko all weekend.
**WWE.com has posted a story that Jamie Noble (real name James Howard) has announced his retirement stemming from the angle involving Sheamus. It could very well be a legitimate retirement as Noble is an agent backstage for the company and they aren't going to do a big retirement / comeback angle with someone like Noble.
**The Fight Network is launching a new show called ‘Ultimate Classic Wrestling' tonight at 11pm EST featuring old footage from the USWA promotion in the late 80's. Tonight's show looks at the early career of Steve Austin and is hosted by myself.
The USWA was formed after Jerry Jarrett (then the promoter
of the Continental Wrestling Association in Memphis)
bought into the World Class Championship Wrestling office in Texas and took majority control of the
promotion and changed it to the USWA. It was during this time period that
talent such as Austin, Cactus Jack, The Undertaker, Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Lawler,
Kerry Von Erich and Chris Adams worked for the promotion so there is some very
cool footage in these show.
**In addition The Fight Network is also launching the new 'Classic Wrestling: St. Louis' series tonight - hosted by Jason Agnew with the first episode focusing on Ric Flair. Tune in at 10pm EST tonight.
**Jeff Jarrett Vs Dutch Mantel headlines an independent show this Saturday in Princeton, Kentucky at the Caldwell County High School.
**Here are the results from the TNA charity show last night
in Nashville, Tennessee for the Kyle Vanden Bosch S.A.C.K.
Foundation:
*Suicide over Homicide and The Pope
*Hernandez over Kip James
*Tara over Velvet Sky
*Abyss over Rhino in a Monster's Ball Match
*Bobby Lashley over Scott Steiner
*Beer Money Inc. & Frank Wycheck over Eric Young &
The British Invasion
*A.J Styles over Samoa Joe to keep the TNA Title
